Made by Delavar Doustanian, the doc is taking part in the 10th edition of the Russian event.
‘Slow and Sluggish’ focuses on the life of two snails as the only characters of the movie. Music is used as a tool to narrate the life of the snails.
According to Doustanian’s media interview, “We think that animals are each other’s enemies, but that’s not the case. At the end of the documentary, you will see that animals’ real enemy is human beings”.
‘Slow and Sluggish’ was screened at the Pärnu International Documentary and Science Film Festival in Estonia, the CinemAmbiente - Environmental Film Festival in Italy, the International Nature and Environment Festival in Hungary, and the Aporia International Village Film Festival in South Korea.
It is the recipient of the Best Documentary Film award at the Globe International Silent Film Festival, as well as an honorary diploma at the International Ecological TV Festival “To Save and Preserve” in Russia.
The Moscow International Documentary Film Festival DOKer screens independent non-fiction films.
The DOKer is aimed at “analyzing and screening various genres and forms of the world's documentaries as a separate line of cinema in all its esthetic and socio-cultural diversity,” according to an online submission platform.
The 2022 edition of the DOKer has been slated for August 15-24.
